BETHANY, Oklahoma — The Eastern New Mexico University men’s soccer team played to a 1-1 tie Saturday when visiting Southern Nazarene, leaving both teams at 0-1-1.
Eastern’s lone goal came with 1:46 to play in the first half on Mitchell Meisinger’s penalty kick. Meisinger’s attempt came on the last of three straight foul calls against Southern Nazarene.
Pedro Garcia supplied Southern Nazarene’s only goal, also on a penalty kick, occurring with less than two minutes to play in second half. Neither team could score again through two overtime periods.
Eastern keeper Yuri Nascimiento posted six saves. Southern Nazarene’s Jeff Ray notched 10 saves.

Eastern drops a pair at Oredigger Classic
GOLDEN, Colo. — Though the Eastern New Mexico volleyball team lost two matches to start the season in Friday’s Oredigger Classic, the Lady Greyhounds battled hard, considering they were facing two ranked opponents.
They first lost to 13th-ranked Wayne State, after winning the opening set fairly handily before dropping the next three. The scores were: 25-16, 19-25, 17-25, 14-25.
Next up was 19th-ranked Colorado School of Mines, which beat Eastern in straight sets: 25-11, 25-20, 25-13.
ENMU was led by senior Brooklyn Biel with a total of 16 kills and six blocks, followed by sophomore Sarah Tuioti-Mariner with 14 kills and freshman Jasmine Gannon with 11 kills.
The Greyhounds are back in action Friday, with matches Friday and Saturday at the Lubbock Christian Tournament. They’ll face Colorado Mesa and Colorado Christian Friday, then Southwestern Oklahoma State and the tournament hosts on Saturday.
