Bell rings up decisive goal in Eastern women's first win

BETHANY, Oklahoma — Shelby Bell found the perfect time to score her first goal of the season, tapping in a rebound with five minutes left to give Eastern New Mexico its first win of the season, 3-2 over Southern Nazarene Saturday at Wes Harmon Field.

Ariel Lopez and Naomi Abeyta scored first-half goals for the Greyhounds (1-3-2), who looked like they’d see yet one more overtime period when Brianna Evans notched her third goal of the year on a penalty kick with 24:24 remaining in the second half.

ENMU had come into Saturday’s match with four overtime games and seven overtime periods in its first five matches.

Meagan Chase scored in the first half for Southern Nazarene (2-4), which outshot the Greyhounds 17-14 with a 9-8 shots on goal advantage.

Alejandra Camarillo made seven saves on the afternoon.

The Greyhounds return home Friday to face Texas A&M-Commerce in a 7 p.m. game at Greyhound Stadium.
