CLOVIS — Two suspects believed to be connected with "shoot 'em up" threats early this week at local schools have been identified by the Clovis Police Department and are under investigation, according to Clovis Municipal Schools Superintendent Jody Balch.
Balch said CPD Chief Doug Ford called him Tuesday night, advising him of the update concerning a telephoned threat Monday afternoon to Clovis High School and Marshall Middle School. A caller said "someone is coming to shoot up CHS," and police determined the threats unsubstantiated, CMS officials said on their Facebook page Monday.
Police Capt. Roman Romero on Wednesday said officials are investigating "threatening chats" aired on Snapchat, a social media site. He said no arrests had been made as of early Wednesday night.
In an email Wednesday to CMS staff, Balch said he was told the night before that police "had served two search warrants and had hard evidence and name(s) of people involved with the Monday 'shoot-em up threats' at CHS and Marshall. I believe they are our students."
Balch said the warrants pertained specifically to Monday's incident and he did not know if there was any connection to the previous widespread threats of violence made to schools and multiple businesses in the past month.
