CLOVIS — City police have arrested a juvenile on charges pertaining to a mass shooting threat last week on Clovis High School, according to a news release Monday.
An investigation originated the morning of Sept. 25, when CPD was notified around 8 a.m. that day of Snapchat postings that “cited the name ‘Nathaniel,’ Clovis High School employees, and a threat to conduct a mass shooting at the high school,” the release said.
An online post that same day from Clovis Municipal Schools said CHS “received a phone call from an individual that stated, ‘someone is coming to shoot up CHS.'”
“Police were notified and responded immediately,” said the CMS post. “At this time there is no indication of criminal activity.”
CMS Superintendent Jody Balch said CPD contacted him the following evening saying police “had served two search warrants and had had evidence and name(s) of people involved with the (Sept. 25) threats.”
CPD Capt. Roman Romero said no arrests had been made as of Sept. 27.
The news release Monday said a 16-year old suspect was arrested and booked in the Juvenile Detention Center, charged with "delinquent acts of Assault with Intent to Commit a Felony (3 counts), Assault and Interference with Members of Staff or the General Public (Interfering with Educational Process.”)
Police have not said if they believe the Sept. 25 mass shooting threat to be connected with the two previous incidents of citywide bomb threats made in the past month, or if the recently arrested suspect has any connection to the 16-year old Nathaniel Jouett arrested Aug. 28 as the suspect in the Clovis library shooting.
Police did not respond Monday to calls for additional information.
