St. Edward's tops ENMU men's soccer team 4-1

AUSTIN, Texas — The Eastern New Mexico University’s men’s soccer team took an early lead against 18th-ranked St. Edwards on Saturday afternoon, but the Hilltoppers cruised after that for a 4-1 win at Lewis-Chen Family Field.

Christopher Mesquita gave the Hounds (3-10-1; HC 2-8) their only score, which came off of a pass from Nicolai Alstrom in the 18th minute.

Ten minutes after Mesquita knocked in the Greyhounds first goal, Alex Kuri got the first tally for St. Edward’s. In the 60th minute, Dylan Armstrong gave SEU the lead for good, making his goal his eighth for the season. Owain Hoskins added a goal eight minutes later and Pablo Covarrubias added one more in the 87th minute.

SEU held advantages of 12-3 on shots on goal and 10-1 on corner kicks.

The Greyhounds will return home this week as they take on UT Permian Basin Thursday night at 7.
