ALBUQUERQUE — Clovis’ volleyball team had high hopes going upstate to face District 2-6A foe Sandia on Tuesday. But the Lady Wildcats fell 3-1, as they try chasing a district playoff berth.
The Lady ’Cats lost 16-25, 18-25, 25-23, 25-10, dropping to 10-8 overall, 3-6 in district competition.
After Tuesday night’s match, Clovis head coach Ruth Chavez didn’t think her team’s playoff chances were severely damaged.
“It should not change much, but I’m not sure,” she stated via text.
Despite the loss, Clovis’ Kyli Osborn had 24 digs.
Sydni Hill and Jada Gillespie added 17 digs each, and Lexi Cole had 13 digs.
Makinzie Johnson had nine kills, followed by Lexi Cole with seven and Kassidy Furrow and Mikyla Harkley with six each.
Gillespie, Journey West and Cole each had an ace.
The Lady Wildcats face another district opponent on Saturday when they host LaCueva at Rock Staubus Gymnasium. Game time is 2 p.m.
