RICHARDSON, Texas — Junior Omer Almog and sophomore Mason Swanson were named to the Lone Star Conference’s all-conference cross country teams.
The conference annually creates the teams with the top 15 finishers in the LSC championship meet.
Swanson ran a season-best 23:47.69 for ninth place in the women’s meet, while Almog was 15th in the men’s rac at 27:26.53.
LSC men’s champ West Texas A&M swept the special awards, with Ryan Thompson as newcomer of the year, Briggs Wittlake freshman of the year and Jake Krolick coach of the year. The Buffs had five of the top eight finishers in the championship.
Amy Riera of women’s champion Tarleton State was the newcomer of the year, while her coach, Pat Ponder, took the coaching honor. Midwestern State’s Kayleigh Jarrett, the top runner at the meet, was the freshman of the year.
The teams are off this week before heading to the NCAA Division II South Central Regionals Nov. 4. The event is hosted by West Texas A&M.
