Stabbing still under investigation

CLOVIS — Noting a lack of cooperation from the parties involved, Clovis police on Thursday were still investigating an incident Wednesday morning in which a man was stabbed in the neck on the 3400 block of Gidding Street.

Officers responded to reports of a public affray just before 10 a.m., said CPD Capt. Roman Romero.

“Officers arrived on scene, locating a 39 year old Hispanic male who had a puncture wound to the left side of his face just below his jawline,” Romero said, noting the man was “uncooperative” while being transported to Plains Regional Medical Center, “where he continued to be uncooperative and had to be convinced to accept medical treatment.”

A “66-year old Hispanic male” was detained and interviewed, but no arrests have been made, Romero said.

Romero said the case is still active and will be presented to the district attorney next week to determine whether charges should be filed.

Deputy District Attorney Brian Stover said Wednesday the injured man will recover from wounds that could have been life-threatening without treatment.
