PORTALES — Omer Almog has been running strong this season, and last weekend the Eastern New Mexico University junior earned the right to run some more.
With his performance at the NCAA Division II South Central Region Championship, Almog qualified to move on to the National Championship meet, scheduled for Saturday Nov. 18 at Southern Indiana University in Evansville, Indiana.
Almog led the 18th-place Greyhounds with a 14th-place finish. His time in the 10K run at West Texas A&M Range was 31:25.75. Almog crossed the finish line just over a half-second after 17th-place Logan Ramlet from Colorado-Mines.
Last season, Mercy Rotich represented the ENMU women’s team and recorded a sixth-place finish. The last time a runner from the Greyhound men’s team qualified was in 2013, when Mikey Davila placed 54th.
The championship meet is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. Mountain Standard Time.
