CLOVIS — Bad wiring is to blame for the structure fire that severely damaged the interior of a church east of Clovis last month, officials say.
“It was ruled an accident due to wiring and water issues,” said Tom Mangan, public information officer for the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms’ Phoenix Field Division.
“As far as ATF is concerned, the investigation is closed.”
Per protocol for a church building fire, investigators from the state Fire Marshal’s Office and ATF were called in to assist with determining the cause of the Oct. 10 blaze at Living Word Church of God.
Church services have since been relocated to the Christian Believers Center at 501 Main St. until Living Word facilities can be repaired or replaced.
