PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico University is holding a special meeting today to address suggestions in a recent legislative report that it better manage its administrative functions.
The 72-page report, created by the Legislative Finance Committee, recommended that ENMU begin “centralizing administrative functions on the main campus to be more efficient,” according to President Jeff Elwell.
Regents will be asked to consider expanding two positions — chief information officer and director of human resources — to “centralize administrative functions” and provide support to the Ruidoso and Roswell branch campuses.
CIO Clark Elswick and Human Resources Director Benito Gonzales will assume their duties on behalf of the entire ENMU system, according to a recommendation Elwell will make to regents.
“It will probably mean that the people here will travel to the other campuses a little bit. Right now, they only go down there for board meetings and things, but they’ll go down there to work with them on various projects, or to make sure we’re all working together,” he said.
The meeting will take place at 1 p.m. at the ENMU Administration Building.
