1977: Several members of the Curry County Jaycees were photographed by the Clovis News-Journal as they participated in a two-day blood drive they were sponsoring at the Clovis Chamber of Commerce.

In the photo, medical technician Vangie Moreno was pulling blood from Mike McDaniel, while George Krattiger, Mark Jones, and Marc Vinall looked on "with just a touch of apprehension."

The Jaycees had promised a $100 bonus to the club or organization which brought in the most members during the drive.

1972: A report on the Elida Halloween carnival made the local newspaper. Bud Bilberry of Kenna was president of the Parent Teacher Support Organization that sponsored the carnival.

Winners of the costume contest included Mark Milner, "Littlest Goblin"; Gina Lambirth, "Biggest Goblin"; Pride Madden, "Prettiest Goblin"; and Adam Anthony, "Ugliest Goblin."

Third-graders Lori Coyan and Jerry Don Moore were crowned king and queen of the carnival.
