Curry employees donate to Hartley House

CLOVIS - This year Curry County employees decided to spread the Christmas spirit outside the office.

Instead of exchanging gifts among themselves, on Tuesday members of Curry County administration and finance departments and grant employees took that money and instead donated items to The Hartley House, a non-profit organization that provides services for victims of domestic violence.

The donations included clothes, toys, sports equipment and books.

Hartley House Executive Director Donna Horton said the donations will be given to the women and children at the shelter.

"Being a non-profit organization it's hard for us to just go and shop, so donations that come in like this, words can't even express how grateful we are," Hartley House Office Manager Christine Solano said. "We say thank you and thank you and thank you, but the smile Christmas morning that the kids put on, it's just very appreciated."
