Best gift ever: Readers share favorite Christmas presents

We asked Facebook followers, "So what is the best Christmas present you've ever received?"

A few responses:

Vicky Everhart: A little brown bag filled with an apple, an orange, a handful of nuts, ribbon candy and an extra large candy bar.

My mother made one for everyone that Christmas. It was reminiscent of the goodies she received as a child.

She had already told us the story of her childhood and the simplicity of the gifts given. We all enjoyed our little bags knowing the act of pure love behind them.

Donna Bitner: My dad made me a picture frame and clock. He had one of my favorite pictures of me and my husband put in the frame and the clock is the shape of New Mexico.

Andrea Schnell Brasier: Being a military spouse and once a military brat, I hadn't had a family Christmas with my parents in four years.

My husband had been deployed last year and got home right before Thanksgiving. He had plotted with my parents all along to come here all the way from Georgia.

We were at Buffalo Wild Wings and my heart was heavy because I wanted to see them. The waiter brought an extra set of menus to us and I turned to tell them it was only the two of us ... and there they were: My mom and dad.

I made a fool of myself crying in Buffalo Wild Wings and hugging them like crazy.

Juanita Cordova: My husband bought me a car for an early Christmas present. Unfortunately, four days later it was wrecked and a complete loss. But I'm still thankful.

Maggie Palley Kiser: The premature/early birth of my first daughter, Eliza. She was expected at the end of January - but surprised us all on Dec. 15. She will turn 6 on Friday.

Arturo Aranda: When I was 6, I got the green plastic soldiers, and they lasted me till the next Christmas. ... Made me the happiest boy on earth.

Janie Kiser: In 1990 I received a 6-pound, 6.5-ounce baby boy at 9:51 p.m. on Christmas eve. No present has ever topped that.
