Empty Stocking Fund - Dec. 17

Today’s family in need: This loving mother is struggling to support her daughter, who suffers from a spine disorder.

Salvation Army Lt. Kelly Berggren recently met a woman who longed to have children.

Her daughter was born with a spine disorder and is in a full body cast, and her husband left shortly after the child was born.

The woman did not ask for help, according to Berggren.

“We first learned of her from her relative who approached us,” he said.

About the Empty Stocking Fund: The fund is a joint venture of the Salvation Army and The Eastern New Mexico News. The fund helps low-income families with toys, food and clothing.

How to help: The Eastern New Mexico News is accepting Empty Stocking Fund donations at its newspaper offices in Clovis (521 Pile St. or P.O. Box 1689, Clovis 88101) and Portales (101 E. First St. or P.O. Box 848, Portales 88130).

Envelopes should be clearly marked “Empty Stocking Fund.” Checks must be payable to The Salvation Army. Contributions will be forwarded to The Salvation Army.
