CLOVIS — The Eastern New Mexico Water Utility Authority will consider a request for condemnation on a property near southwest Clovis, following multiple unsuccessful efforts to agree on an appraisal price for access to the landowner’s property.
“The condemnation request is because we have not settled our differences for the easement and they have not accepted the appraiser’s total,” said ENMWUA Interim Executive Director Maggie Chapman.
Chapman said she did not have the name of the property owner or size of the property immediately available Wednesday afternoon.
ENMWUA Secretary Robert Thornton said the property was situated near the intersection of West Grand Avenue and South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
ENMWUA meets at 1 p.m. today in the Curry County Commission chambers, with an executive session to discuss “limited easement matters” preceding the meeting at 12:45.
Also on the agenda is a report from Clovis Mayor David Lansford and a report and financial activities update from Chapman.
The search for a new executive director continues, Chapman said, though no new applications have been added to more than two dozen received as of last month. That process is expected to last into the new year.
