UPDATE: The NMSP reported late Saturday night Rendon was found safe, and thanked the public for its assistance.

Escapee returned to De Baca County jail

FORT SUMNER - A successful escape from the De Baca County Detention Center was short-lived.

Nicoles Davis, 20, was apprehended just over an hour after his escape was first announced by the New Mexico State Police.

According to information from the NMSP shortly after 1 p.m., Davis was arrested without incident.

According to court documents, this isn't Davis' first escape attempt. He was scheduled for a Feb. 15 sentencing after pleading no contest two weeks ago to escape or escape to attempt from jail and possession of a deadly weapon or explosive by prisoner. Both are felony counts.

Calls placed to the state police and the detention center Friday were not immediately returned.
