Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
CLOVIS — The Clovis man charged for the 10th time last month with driving while intoxicated will remain in jail without bond pending trial, following a detention hearing Thursday afternoon.
Randall Pruit, 54, was arrested early New Year’s Eve for DWI while out on bond from another pending DWI case from a traffic stop Oct. 21.
Judge Drew Tatum also granted the state’s motion Thursday to revoke his bond from that case, for which he is next scheduled to appear in court in May.
“His behavior is continuing to escalate to the point where he is a danger to our community,” said Assistant District Attorney Kristen Beltran.
Pruit’s defense attorney Dan Lindsey argued the state did not meet the burden of proof for the most recent DWI charge and noted results from a test ordered on Pruit’s blood were still not back.
