1988: Gayla Brumfield, board member of the Clovis YMCA, accepted a $1,000 check from Ray Falks, supervisor of the Santa Fe Railroad in Clovis.

The donation was designated to be used for memberships to the YMCA for underprivileged children, as well as to supplement building operation funds.

1958: The Dora Coyotes boys' basketball team handily defeated the Causey Tomcats, 65-36, as the Coyotes nailed down their fifth straight victory after outscoring the Tomcats in every quarter.

The Tomcats, however, were missing two of their strongest players, Warren Brakebill, the leading scorer in the 6-B Conference with a 19-point per game average, and Kenneth Brakebill. Both were out with the mumps.

Warren Brakebill had poured in 30 points in a game against Tatum before he took ill.
