JROTC cadets get sholarships

CLOVIS — Three Clovis High School Air Force Junior ROTC cadets received Flight Academy scholarships that will allow them to attend a private pilot’s license training program, according to a press release from Clovis Municipal Schools.

Junior James Burroughes and seniors Megan Edwards and Corde’ Mailman were among the 120 AFJROTC cadets to receive the scholarship, out of over 600 who applied.

The approximately $20,000 scholarship will cover transportation, room and board and flight hours required to earn a private pilot’s license.

As graduating seniors, Edwards and Mailman will also have the chance to compete for a four-year ROTC scholarship.

Mailman is a candidate for the USAF Academy and Edwards is a candidate for the Merchant Marine Academy and the USAF Academy.
