Last time out: On Thursday, the Eastern women rallied for a stirring 73-71 overtime road victory against West Texas A&M, ranked 17th in the nation and also a Lone Star Conference foe. Double the reward.

UTPB halted a losing streak at four by defeating Western New Mexico 77-59 at home on Thursday.

Last meeting: Jan. 28, 2017. The Greyhounds poured in 27 first-quarter points and stayed in control the whole way en route to an 81-56 blowout of UTPB at Greyhound Arena. The Hounds shot 42 percent from three-point range, 80 percent from the foul line that Saturday last winter.

The lowdown: After a slow LSC start this season, the Greyhounds have picked it up nicely, getting into a solid winning groove that moved them over .500 in conference play with Thursday's victory at West Texas A&M. That game showed that the Hounds have heart. They trailed 37-29 at halftime, but battled back to tie with five seconds to go in regulation on a Mikhaela O'Connor layup, before prevailing in the extra period. It was the first time this season the Hounds rallied to win after trailing by double digits.

The comeback also displayed ENMU's ability to beat a top-flight team, as the Buffaloes suffered only their fourth loss - overall and conference - this season.

Obviously, UTPB is struggling. Here's a chance for Eastern to keep it rolling while bagging both another road and LSC victory at the same time. The Falcons did get that win Thursday night, but had lost eight of their previous 11 heading into the game.

Last time out: The Greyhounds were trying to win consecutive games for the first time since reeling off a three-game winning streak from Dec. 30-Jan. 11, but fell on the road to West Texas A&M 82-63 on Thursday night. The Buffaloes were well in command for most of the game, especially in the second half.

The Falcons scorched Western New Mexico on Thursday, 123-83. 120-plus points and a 40-point margin of victory indicates total domination by UTPB.

Last meeting: Dec. 28, 2017. After having ended a four-game losing streak in the previous game against West Texas A&M two nights earlier, the Greyhounds were hoping to make it two in a row, but were beaten by UTPB 85-67 at Greyhound Arena.

The lowdown: Eastern needs LSC wins, there's no two ways about it.

But, getting one today will be a tall task indeed. They're on the road against one of the country's best Division II programs, a Falcons team that has lost only once in conference play, and that was by just a point (84-83) at Angelo State on Jan. 13.

This UTPB team can light it up. The Falcons have topped 100 points three times this season - including Thursday's blowout win - and have surpassed 90 points seven times.

If the Hounds are going to steal one today, they'll probably need to play a near-perfect game, and of course, find a way to slow down that prolific UTPB offense.
