ENMU's DeLaCruz named to all-region team

PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico University second baseman Alex DeLaCruz, already tabbed as an All-American by one media outlet, has been named to the South Central Region first team by another.

DeLaCruz was named to the team by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

DeLaCruz, who was named All-American after his junior season, received preseason All-American honors from Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

He led the league in batting average, runs scored, hits, total bases and slugging percentage, while finishing second in stolen bases and third in on-base percentage and doubles.

The Greyhounds begin their season with four games next weekend at the Dallas Christian Tournament. They begin Friday against Hannibal LaGrange at 8:30 a.m. and Midamerica Nazarene at 1:30 p.m., both times MST.
