CLOVIS — Longtime Clovis Community College faculty member Mark Bussen will be up for emeritus status at today’s CCC Board of Trustees meeting.
Bussen retired last year after serving as the division chair for the college’s Health and Physical Education department for 25 years, CCC President Becky Rowley said.
Rowley said faculty members granted emeritus status enjoy special privileges at the school including the right to part-time office space and library privileges.
Faculty members vote on emeritus status and then the board confirms the selections, according to Rowley.
Also on the agenda for today’s meeting scheduled for 8 a.m. in room 512 at CCC, 417 Schepps:
• The board will vote on a contract in the amount of $170,00 to construct a large metal building to be used by the grounds crew.
• The board will hear a review of the college’s adult education program. Rowley said adult education is a free, non-credited program offered at the college that provides assistance to students planning on taking a high school equivalency exam.
• The board will handle a trio of financial matters. First the board will hear the quarterly financial report for the second quarter of fiscal year 2018, after which the board will sign the financial actions report for the second quarter of fiscal year 2018 showing that the college is in good financial stand, which then gets sent to the state Public Education Department Rowley said.
The board will also hear the audit report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2017.
• Rowley will update the board on the current legislative session.
