EPCOG to celebrate paying off mortgage

CLOVIS — Anyone attending Wednesday’s Eastern Plains Council of Governments meeting should expect a party.

That’s because the organization has officially paid off the mortgage on its office building with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, according to Executive Director Sandy Chancey.

“We’ll probably have some cupcakes and something a little bit partyish. That’s a milestone for us,” she said, adding that she estimates EPCOG has been paying off the mortgage for “about 20 years.”

Also at Wednesday’s meeting at 10 a.m. in the EPCOG office at 418 N. Main in Clovis:

• Chancey will offer a report on the last meeting of the New Mexico Association of Regional Councils, which encompasses all regional councils of government in New Mexico.

• Chancey will be giving members an update on the three community development block grant projects EPCOG is assisting with — wastewater system improvement projects in Texico and Portales, and a water system improvement project in Vaughn.
