FRIONA — The family of a Clovis man who died early Monday morning said he was leaving work and didn’t see an oncoming truck that hit his car on the driver side.
Flavio Garcia, 23, was leaving his shift at Cargill Meat Solutions near Friona when the accident happened, his stepfather Manuel Vizcarra said Tuesday. It was still dark while a line of vehicles was entering the facility, he said.
Vizcarra said police told him Garcia died instantly.
Garcia grew up in Clovis and attended Clovis High School as well as Eastern New Mexico University, said his stepfather. He had only been working for Cargill about a week, he said.
Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Steed-Todd Funeral Home.
