Suspect in September shooting arrested

CLOVIS — The suspect sought by law enforcement since the Sept. 5 shooting death of David McDonald at Clovis Apartments was arrested Friday in Sacramento, according to the Clovis Police Department.

Darryl Turner, 30, was held Friday in the Sacramento County Main Jail pending extradition, CPD said in a news release posted on their Facebook page that evening.

“This capture would not have been possible without the cooperation and assistance of law enforcement agencies in Sacramento and the United States Marshals Service in New Mexico and California,” police wrote.

McDonald, 30, died less than two hours after a caller had reported hearing gun shots at the apartment complex on the 1000 block of North Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard. Two eyewitnesses identified Turner, who was driven from the scene by a friend, records show.

Officials generated an arrest warrant for an open count of murder.
