PORTALES — Friday afternoon was supposed to mark the home opener of the 2018 Eastern New Mexico softball season, but Mother Nature had other plans.
The Greyhounds (5-5) will instead start their home and Lone Star Conference schedule today at noon against Western New Mexico (1-9), followed by a 10 a.m. Sunday single game.
The three-game series was originally slated for a 5 p.m. Friday doubleheader and noon Saturday single game. The Greyhounds initially planned to move the Friday doubleheader to 3 p.m. but soon realized they were still unlikely to stay ahead of the weather.
