CLOVIS — Curry County commissioners will be told the county is in solid financial shape during today's meeting. That's when Griego Professional Services owner J.J. Griego discusses the county's financial and compliance audit for fiscal year 2017.
"Curry County's audit is an unmodified, which means it's the best opinion given," Curry County Manger Lance Pyle said. "This type of opinion means the auditor was able to audit the financial statement without problems and the auditor feels confident that everything in the financial statement is a true reflection of the entity's operation."
The audit includes one finding.
"It's a minor finding," Pyle said. "We had a special fund that was not in balance, it was out of balance by $1,022."
Also on the agenda for today's meeting, scheduled for 9 a.m. in the commission chambers at the Curry County Administrative Complex, 417 Gidding St.:
• The commission will vote on a sponsorship for the 2018 Eastern New Mexico Spring Job Fair, scheduled for April 13.
Pyle said the county has sponsored the event before and the cost of this year's sponsorship is $1,400.
• The commission will vote on an agreement with TrueConnect, a voluntary payday loan program that provides no risk to the county.
• Capt. Omar Cervantes will give a presentation on the 2017 Cannon Air Force Base Air Installations Compatible Use Zones Study.
According to the presentation the study is a land use planning document that provides recommendations to communities for compatible development.
• A proclamation may be issued declaring March 2 as National Education Association's Read Across America Day.
Pyle said the county's elected officials are planning to spend the day visiting area schools to read their favorite Dr. Seuss books.
