Loan resolution to come before council

PORTALES — A resolution to execute a large loan agreement will come before the council for the third time at today’s Portales City Council meeting, according to City Manager Sammy Standefer.

The loan of $1 million would pay for the construction of the city’s fire substation, according to Standefer.

“The last time we did it, they had to revoke the loan. They missed some paperwork. This is actually a new loan. This is our third time around to get it. Hopefully the third time’s the charm,” he said.

If the resolution is passed, the city will prepare to go out to bid for construction of the substation, Standefer said.

Also at today’s meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Memorial Building:

• A presentation by city staff recognizing the service of outgoing council member Antonio Salguero and the late Portales Mayor Sharon King.

• A presentation of the city’s audit for the 2016-2017 fiscal year.

• Two public hearings for the zoning and annexation of the K&B Subdivision in Roosevelt County.
