ENMU's Parker named LSC's top male track athlete

RICHARDSON, Texas — Eastern New Mexico University sophomore Marcus Parker was named the outstanding male track athlete of the 2018 indoor season by the Lone Star Conference.

Parker was one of six ENMU athletes — three men, three women — and 94 total athletes recognized on the All-LSC indoor teams, released Wednesday by the LSC office.

Parker and Kenneth Lloyd were first-teamers for the ENMU men, while Danee Bustos and Mason Swanson were first-teamers for the women. Other Greyhounds honored were Kandace Miles on the women's second team and Ivar Moinat on the men's third team.

Athletes were selected based on performances during the Feb. 24-25 LSC championship meet. The all-conference first team consists of event winners, including all members of the winning relay teams, and athletes scoring 14 or more points. Second-teamers scored 8-13.9 and third-teamers scored 6-7.9 points. The teams included 51 men and 43 women.

Texas A&M-Commerce had eight first-teamers and 14 selections overall, while West Texas A&M had 15. West Texas A&M had 11 women honored, including six first-teamers, while Angelo State also had 11.

Joining Parker in individual awards were Florian Obst (Texas A&M-Commerce, male field), Kami Norton (Angelo State, female track) and Kaitlin Lumpkins (Angelo State, female field). Coaches of the year were George Pincock of A&M-Commerce for men and WT's Matt Stewart for women.

Special awards were selected by the league's coaches.
