Officials to discuss county fees

PORTALES — Fees and costs for everything from making copies to fingerprinting will be discussed at today's Roosevelt County Commission meeting.

This is part of an annual resolution in which the commission analyzes the fees, rates and costs that are established for the county, according to County Manager Amber Hamilton.

Also up for consideration will be a compensation study, which evaluates whether the county is staying competitive in the way it pays its employees.

"The goal is to always remain competitive within the marketplace, and so it looks at public employees within the area to make sure we're staying competitive, so that we can ensure that we both attract and retain the most qualified individuals," Hamilton said.

Also at today's meeting at 9 a.m. in the Roosevelt County Courthouse:

• The commission will hear a request to approve an application for the Law Enforcement Protection Grant.

The grant, which is used for the repair and purchase of equipment, will total $27,800, according to Hamilton.

• Commissioners will approve the final list of state roads in need of repair, including roads suggested by the commission in its March 6 meeting, for submission to the New Mexico Department of Transportation.

• An amendment to a 1999 joint powers agreement between the commission and the Roosevelt County Special Hospital District will be up for consideration.
