Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
The “Clovis Sound” is still alive and well 60 years later.
In honor of Homer Tankersley’s 91st birthday, Nor-Va-Jak Music has released an album with several previously unheard songs from the Clovis singer and businessman.
The album includes 18 songs recorded from 1958 to 1971 with Norman Petty, half of which have not been previously released.
Tankersley served in the U.S. Army during World War II, performing in USO shows, before returning home to Dallas where he performed with the Imperial Sugar Quartet.
He ultimately moved to Clovis in 1958 and soon after began recording with Petty.
Tankersley was also honored by the Clovis city commission as March 24 was proclaimed “Homer Tankersley Day” in honor of his 91st birthday on March 25.
