1988: Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clovis for Ted Waldhauser, 79, a longtime Clovis city commissioner who also served as mayor for seven years.

Waldhauser, a native of South St. Paul, Minnesota, came to Clovis as a cattle buyer in 1938, and also ranched and farmed.

He helped found both the Curry County Mounted Patrol and the Clovis Stockyards Association, serving as president of the latter for many years.

Survivors included his wife, Marie Ficker Waldhouser of Clovis; a son, Teddy Waldhouser of Clovis; and four daughters, JoAnne Nuckols, Judy Vaughan, and Jean Wicker, all of Clovis, and Jane Spencer of Alto.

1968: Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Explorer Scouts from throughout the El Llano Grande District were counting on supporters to pay 50 cents apiece to visit a six-hour long exhibition of their scouting skills and activities at the annual spring "Scout-O-Rama."

The event being held in the commercial building at the Curry County Fairgrounds was a booth-based show with the members of various dens and troops responsible for the contents of the booths as well as being on hand for live demonstrations.

Topics expected to show up in the exhibits included physical fitness, buildings, paintings, patriotism, nature, music, and crafts.

A similar show took place earlier in the spring in Portales.
