CLOVIS — A 13-year old boy arrested Wednesday morning after making threats at Marshall Middle School will be charged with battery on school personnel, interference with educational process and disorderly conduct, according to District Attorney Andrea Reeb.
Clovis police were called to the junior high school just before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday “in reference to a juvenile problem in progress,” according to a police incident report.
The child had been isolated to the school’s main office, where he was “throwing the chairs around and attempting to kick the window out of the office to leave the school.
“He stated he was going to shoot up the school, because he did not like the teachers there,” Sgt. Rafael Aguilar wrote in the report.
“No weapons were found on the juvenile or at a subsequent consent search at his residence,” Capt. Roman Romero wrote in a message to The News.
During the school altercation the juvenile “applied force to (a security guard) by pushing her in attempt to flee the school,” said the report, and was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center for a battery charge.
Reeb said the complete charges against the juvenile would be filed today and that he would remain in custody pending a detention hearing this morning.
