PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico University’s athletics department is having special events in connection with this weekend’s home athletic contests involving the baseball, softball and football teams.
The football team will have its Green and Silver scrimmage 6 p.m. Friday. The softball team will host Texas A&M-Kingsville with a 5 p.m. Friday doubleheader and noon Saturday single game. The baseball team will host a pair of doubleheaders Friday and Saturday at 1 p.m. (seven-inning first game, nine-inning second game). The baseball games were originally scheduled to begin Friday but there were concerns about inclement weather.
A barbecue is scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday in the tailgating area of the Greyhound Stadium parking lot. Hot dogs will be served to Greyhound Club members on a first-come, first-served basis.
On Saturday, the department is asking fans to pack the fences at the softball game by encouraging people to bring their vehicles, lawn chairs and grilling equipment. The team will honor its six seniors following the contest.
