Discover Greek-style mousse on new show

Information on antique quilts, snoring, and removing wild animals from your house will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” on Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. and on Thursday at noon. (All times are Mountain.)

Marci Baker is a quilter and author, and she’s going to talk about what to do if you come across an antique quilt and what questions you should ask before buying it. She’ll also tell how to find an appraiser specific to quilts. Baker’s company is Alicia’s Attic, Inc. in Fort Collins, Colorado.

James Fallon will discuss the effects of snoring on a person’s relationship and talk about some of the major issues associated with snoring along with the risk factors that cause snoring. Fallon lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

What’s the first thing you would think of doing if a wild animal happened to get into your home? Ray Pawley says you need to immediately take charge with a calm, clear head, and he has several suggestions that might come in handy someday. Pawley lives in Hondo.

Information on making designer treats for people and pets, making Greek-style chocolate mousse and creating perfect quilt squares will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” on Tuesday at noon and on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Sharon Davis is in Topeka, Kansas,and she will demonstrate making designer oatmeal cookies for people and gourmet treats for pets.

Aris Kefalogiannis is going to show the Greek style of making a chocolate mousse which features Gaea’s extra virgin olive oils and other 100 percent natural products. He lives in Athens, Greece.

Evelyn Terhune is in Gilbert, Arkansas, and she will show how to use a fusible quilters grid to create perfect squares when quilting, and she says the technique is very simple.

Designer oatmeal cookies

• 2/3 cup whole wheat flour or all-purpose flour*

• 1/2 tsp. baking powder

• 1/4 tsp. baking soda

• 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

• 1/8 tsp. salt

• 1/2 cup butter, softened

• 1/3 cup packed brown sugar

• 1/3 cup sugar

• 1 egg

• 1/2 tsp. vanilla

• 1 1/2 cups uncooked quick or old-fashioned oats

• 3/4 cup chocolate baking chips or moist raisins or dried fruit **

• 1/2 cup chopped nuts or sunflower seeds, unsalted, roasted

*Option 1/3 cup whole wheat flour and 1/3 cup all-purpose flour

**For moist dried raisins, soak raisins in water for 5 minutes and drain

Preheat oven to 375° F. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt in small mixing bowl. Combine butter, brown sugar, sugar, egg and vanilla in large mixing bowl. Beat until creamy. Add flour mixture and oats to creamed mixture and thoroughly combine. Add baking chips or fruit and nuts. Drop by teaspoon onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes; remove to wire cooling rack to finish cooling.
