Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

Club notes - May 6

Curry County Retired Educators

President Eileen Massey welcomed attendees, including guest speaker, Patsy Delk, a local artist. After giving listeners a bit of her personal history as a long-time teacher and artist, Delk spoke of her interest in and love of art. Many students and adults have learned from Delk's instruction, which has benefitted local businesses and organizations. Some of the notable art forms on display throughout the community have been the painted Jersey cows (done in commemoration of Clovis' Centennial by Delk), student-created sculptures at the Hillcrest Zoo, and an annual student art showing each February (“Art Has Heart”) where students show and sell their work at a silent auction for the benefit of a selected non-profit.

We invite all retired Curry County teachers to join us at K-Bob's at 11 a.m. for lunch, 11:30 a.m. for the program. The next meeting will be Sept. 4.
