Reporter's notebook: Concerts cap year

CLOVIS — The Clovis music department will wrap up another award-winning year with a pair of concerts at The Rock, tonight’s All-Choral Night and Thursday’s All-Band Night.

Clovis Schools Director of Music Education Brandon Boerio said the two hour-long concerts are meant to cap off the year for the district’s bands and choirs and will include musicians from different schools playing together.

“Both concerts highlight all of our programs combined together so they’ll feature every musician we have (grades) six through 12 both band and choir,” Boerio said. “It’s the only concert where we actually combine all the kids into big groups. So for example all the sixth graders that are in band or choir will play in one big sixth-grade band or one big sixth-grade choir.”

Other than graduation, Boerio said these concerts will be the final performances as Wildcats for the 29 seniors in the band and the 47 seniors in the choir.

Boerio said the concerts will feature about a dozen or so pop-style songs, so he said to expect a light-hearted show with even some costumes involved on Thursday.

“It should be fun,” Boerio said.

For both shows the doors open at 6 p.m., the concert begins at 7 p.m. and general admission tickets are $3 for adults and $2 for students.
