Reporter's notebook: Holiest season

American Muslims, as well as those around the world, are set to begin a month of fasting as Ramadan starts tonight at sundown.

According to timeanddate.com, Ramadan is considered to be the holiest season in the Islam year and commemorates the first revelation of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad.

During the month-long holy season, Muslims fast between sunup and sundown and focus on prayer and doing good deeds.

Ramadan concludes with the holiday Eid al-Fitr on June 15 in the United States, when Muslims often celebrate with a feast and dress in their nicest and newest clothes.
