PORTALES — Chukuka Emili will spend his final college basketball season at Eastern New Mexico University, as the Greyhounds announced landing the 6-foot-7 forward Tuesday.
Emili is a Division-I transfer from Houston Baptist.
"Chu's size and athleticism is truly special,” ENMU coach Tres Segler said in a release from the school. “His wingspan and leaping ability will give him the ability to play above the rim at all times. We needed someone last season to give us the big lob-dunk plays, and to finish with power and authority from the short corner in our ball screen motion offense. Chu gives us all that and more. His shot blocking ability is a true gift that he will bring to our family here at ENMU, and because we focus so much on physical defensive play, I believe Chu will find himself involved in a ton of action."
Eastern will be the fourth school for Emili. The New York City native averaged 13 points per game as a freshman at Rockland Community College in Suffon, New York, before moving on to New Mexico Military Institute, where he averaged 6.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and led the team with 39 total blocks.
At Houston Baptist, Emili averaged 10 minutes in 23 games with season totals of 41 points, 48 rebounds and 19 blocks.
In their second season under Segler, the Greyhounds went 11-17, 6-12 in the Lone Star Conference.
