PORTALES - Eastern New Mexico second baseman Alex DeLaCruz repeated Friday as a first-team selection on the Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association South Central Regional team.
This is DeLaCruz' second regional honor of the year, along with Wednesday's National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association award.
It is his fourth regional award overall, with the ABCA/Rawlings and D2CCA awards last season.
The senior recently received his second-consecutive selection to the All-Lone Star Conference team. He was fourth in the league in batting (.380), while finishing second in the LSC in hits (70), third in stolen bases (26) and top 10 in five other offensive categories.
DeLaCruz leaves ENMU with the second-highest career batting average (.410) behind Shane Shallenberger, and went 2-for-5 with an RBI in ENMU's 7-4 win Thursday over Angelo State. It was the first LSC tournament win in school history.
During his two seasons at ENMU, the Greyhounds won 56 games - the highest two-season total since the 1995 and 1996 ENMU squads.
