Information on plein air painting techniques and using a twelve needle deluxe electric felting machine will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” on Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. and on Thursday at noon. (All times are Mountain.)
Professional artist Brenda Pinnick is going to explain how to paint a desert scene using plein air techniques. She’ll also make suggestions for creating this art form if you are unable to paint outside and explain how to make changes in your palette. She lives in Woodstock, Georgia.
Michele Muska will demonstrate the new twelve needle deluxe electric felting machine as she makes some beautiful felted cuffs to wear as bracelets or to attach to garments. Muska lives in Enfield, Connecticut.
Information on being more memorable, using butter, milk and yogurt substitutions in baking and cooking, and quilt designing will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” on Tuesday at noon and on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Author and speaker Ruthie Dearing will explain why a positive attitude is so important, tell how to change attitude and behaviors, and discuss visualization. She lives in Albuquerque.
Carol Fenster, cookbook author, says that over 60 percent of Americans do not eat dairy products for various reasons. She will explain how to use butter, milk and yogurt substitutions in baking and cooking. She’s in Centennial, Colorado.
Author and quilter Norah McMeeking will show how she used inspiration from Italian marble floors to create her quilts. She has both photos and actual quilts to show. McMeeking is from Santa Barbara, California.
How to replace cream cheese, sour cream, and whipped cream
in baking and cooking
For each 1 cup of cream cheese, use:
• Tofutti, 1 cup
Advantages: smooth, creamy texture; light color. Great in cheesecakes and on bagels.
Disadvantages: not for soy-allergic
• Follow Your Heart Vegan Gourmet 1 cup
Advantages: smooth, creamy texture; light color. Great in cheesecakes and on bagels.
Disadvantages: not for soy-allergic.
For each 1 cup of sour cream, use :
• Tofutti, 1 cup
Advantages: smooth, creamy texture; light color. Works well in sweet and savory dishes.
Disadvantages: not for soy-allergic.
