CLOVIS — The Eastern New Mexico Water Utility Authority is slated to discuss the preliminary operating budget for fiscal year 2019 at today’s board meeting.
ENMWUA Chair David Lansford said he thinks the budget will be up from the fiscal year 2018 budget of $1.34 million due to an increase in engineering expenses associated with the project management of Finished Water 2 as construction on the pipeline begins.
Lansford said other changes to the budget include a decrease in employee expenses by 30 to 40 percent associated with the recent hiring of Orlando Ortega as administrator, who's salary is $21,000 less than previous administrator Justin Howalt and does not include benefits.
Other items on the agenda for today’s meeting, scheduled for 1 p.m. in the commission chambers at the Curry County Administrative Complex, 417 Gidding St.:
• Reports on state and federal activities.
• Report from Lansford.
• Report from Ortega.
