Langford promoted to ENMU running backs coach

PORTALES — Following his three seasons as a Greyhound football player, Ben Langford has been a graduate assistant for the program.

Now, ENMU just considers him an assistant. Langford was promoted this week to running backs coach.

Greyhound coach Kelley Lee made the announcement Thursday morning.

“I am very excited to bring Ben on to our staff in a full time capacity,” said Lee. “Ben is an extremely well-rounded young football coach and is a great person. He played both quarterback and linebacker in college and was a two-time All-Conference linebacker selection during his playing career at ENMU. As a graduate assistant Ben coached both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Ben is a great addition to our staff and will be a fantastic asset to our football program”

Lee credited Langford for playing a role in the Hounds going 35-20 over his five seasons as a player or coach, and notes how he helped develop wide receiver Aaron Johnson and linebacker Zackary Johnson into All-LSC selections in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

In Langford’s first season as a player, the Greyhounds posted a winning season for the first time in a decade while sharing the Lone Star Conference title. His next two seasons saw the Greyhounds make the C.H.A.M.P.S. Heart of Texas Bowl.
