The royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle... The newly crowned Duke and Duchess of Sussex took place May 19 as the world watched in curiosity, while waiting in suspense of the arrivals, the wedding details, and of course, what the guests and bride would be wearing. Well, the wait is over, but the media is still reporting on details of the big day. The bride wore a simple and classic boat neck gown by British designer Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy.
One of my favorite looks amongst the wedding guests was the bride's best friend, Abigail Spencer, wearing Alessandra Rich. The navy blue and white polka dot dress she wore was sophisticated, and paired with her lace navy blue fascinator was the top of the cake.
Another favorite and stand out guest was Amal Clooney wearing a bright yellow ensemble with a long train by Stella McCartney. Her hat/fascinator mix reminded me of a flying saucer with a thin sparkly lace veil and gold pumps to top off her look.
Other guest who grabbed media attention for their dress or just for being in attendance was Oprah Winfrey, who wore a hat that's considered in the south a church hat. Serena Williams, another good friend of the bride, wore her hair in waist-length cornrows (braids) and a pretty, peachy pink Versace dress. Then, there was Victoria Beckham, who wore a navy blue dress and fascinator with orange pumps, much reminiscent of the 2011 wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton where she also wore navy blue. She stunned at both weddings.
I thought Carey Mulligan, “The Great Gatsby” costar, looked especially pretty in a cream floral gown by Eedem, but my most favorite look was from Countess Karen Spencer, wife of the groom’s uncle, Charles Spencer. She wore a violet cape-like dress by Pamella Roland. Even though her dress was a bit dark and not the colorful or floral looks of many at the wedding, she looked elegant and polished.
