RGH trustees to discuss loan for improvements

PORTALES — A loan to cover several improvements at Roosevelt General Hospital will depend on approval by its board of trustees at tonight’s meeting.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture loan of approximately $618,000 will cover a new parking lot, a video surveillance system, portable office buildings and surgical equipment, according to John Bridges, chief of ancillary and support services at RGH.

If approved, Bridges said the hospital should have access to the funds by the middle of July.

“We’re hoping within the next six months (for completion of improvements), I would say,” he said.

Also at tonight’s meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the Fred Anthony Conference Room at RGH:

• Trustees will consider awarding credentials to one employee in the area of behavioral health.

• The board will also consider its bylaws, something Medical Staff Services Coordinator Lizzette Dominguez said is done every two years.

“We presented draft one at the last board meeting, so they would be ratifying it,” she said.
