ENMU adds second Iona transfer

Clay averaged 10.0 points, 4.8 rebounds as junior for Gaels.

PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico University bolstered its 2018-19 women's basketball roster on Wednesday, with Division I transfer Treyanna Clay coming aboard.

Clay becomes the second Iona transfer in as many weeks, joining Tilasha Okey-Williams, who signed with ENMU last week.

"She is a versatile young lady who will be able to step in right away and make a huge impact for our program," ENMU coach Josh Prock said of Clay. "Trey is someone who can score with her back to the basket, she can face up, and she can hit the 3-point shot. Her ability to cause these matchup problems will give us a lot of options in our lineups and how we can use everyone."

The 6-foot forward spent the previous three seasons at Iona before transferring to Eastern New Mexico. Clay had her best season to date in 2017-18, as the Tucson, Arizona native started 28 games for the Gaels and averaged 34.5 minutes per contest.

Clay averaged 10.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game last year. She had a career-high 20 points against Jacksonville University on Nov. 13, while posting her first career double-double on Nov. 27 against Toledo.

As a sophomore, Clay averaged 6.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game in 31 starts, as she shot 37 percent from the floor in 31.2 minutes per game for the Gaels. As a freshman in 2015-16, Clay appeared in 33 games and made nine starts. She shot 36.3 percent from the field that season.

Prior to attending Iona, Clay played her high school basketball at Cienega High School. She was named the AZ Daily Star Player of the Year and was selected to play in the 2014-15 Arizona All-Star Game her senior year.
