Reporter's notebook: Farm to table

Friendship Senior Center members will be showing off their green thumbs as the Friendship Garden Club meets for the first time this morning.

Program Coordinator Sandy Pieratt said the club will maintain a vegetable garden located in the back yard between the senior center and Matt 25. Meetings will be held Tuesdays at 10 a.m. at Friendship Senior Center, 901 W 13th St, starting today.

Pieratt said later in the summer the vegetables grown in the garden will be used for some farm-to-table nutritious food demonstrations at the senior center.
