PORTALES - The Roosevelt County Commission will meet today to certify the results of Tuesday's election.
Chief Deputy Clerk Stephanie Hicks said the clerk's office will present the results of the election to the canvassing board, which is the same as the board of county commissioners, who will then certify the results.
Also on the agenda for today's meeting, scheduled for 9 a.m. in the commission's room at the Roosevelt County Courthouse, 109 W. First St.:
• The board will vote on the county's Community Development Block Grant application for this year.
County Manager Amber Hamilton said the application will be for drainage and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant facilities at the county fairgrounds.
Hamilton said the county already has this work listed on its 10-year plan, but will be exploring the CDBG grant to accelerate that timeline.
• The meeting will be followed by an executive session to discuss limited personnel matters and/or attorney-client privileged information pertaining to threatened or pending litigation, according to the agenda.
• The executive session will be followed by a road planning workshop with the county commission, administration and road department.
Hamilton said the workshop will be used to add additional roads to the county's priority list, which will go before the commission for approval at its next meeting.
Hamilton said the county typically receives about $500,000 to $600,000 in local government road funds from the state, but this year Roosevelt is anticipating receiving about $1.3 million.
"It's very much needed and we're looking forward to utilizing that," Hamilton said.
