1973: Clovis' annual Pioneer Days Parade had included a somber float among the entries that stretched out over two miles.
Area residents asked "Where Are Our MIAs?" in a banner on a float that featured a "tiger cage," similar to one in which American prisoners of war were held captive by the North Vietnamese.
About 1,300 American soldiers were still listed as missing in action from the Vietnam War at the time.
Officials said many of the missing were airmen shot down over North Vietnam.
Hundreds still remain unaccounted for today and debate continues over the existence of "live prisoners" never returned home after the war.
